Since 1992, New Horizons Ministries’ child care staff has had the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus to incarcerated mothers and their children. We pick up the baby at the hospital nursery when he is only two days old, bring him home, and give him a solid and healthy foundation by sharing the salvation plan and other Scriptures from this very early age. Visits are provided weekly to the mother while she is incarcerated and regularly after her release.
New Horizons also has the opportunity to care for children from our own community. The county we live in has many needs related to children and families, and we feel God calling us to expand our ministry to them as well. We are moving ahead by licensing our first homes, and have begun care for a few of these children. We continue to look for families who are willing to reach out in this way to children and families in need.
We often find ourselves playing the role of coach, mentor, and cheerleader, not only for the child in our care, but also for the family as they take steps in making positive life-changing choices. Many of the people we work with come from walks of life where they have never seen faith lived out nor recognized the unconditional love of God. Our primary goal is leading them to a life-transforming relationship with Jesus.
“Words will never be enough to express my gratitude for the people at New Horizons. I am so thankful that I had another option for the care of my son. The people at New Horizons have not only cared for my son but have loved me. They have also led my son and I to know Jesus. New Horizons has been such a blessing in both of our lives.
